May angels guide you through this suckish movie..

Since Youtube hates me right now this is being posted ahead of schedule.

SPOILER ALERT: If you havn't seen this movie and still want to see it their will be spoilers.

When I heard that there was going to be a movie about the Dan Brown book Angels and Demons I flipped out. I love this book. Probably one of my favourite pieces of writing. Then I learned that Ron Howard was directing it. Oh boy... after his gigantic flop with Da Vinci Code I didn't have much hope. So I went to see this with little hope but praying I would be proved wrong. Unfortunatly I wasn't.

This movie was terrible. It is beyond me how you can take such an amazing piece of writing and end up with what I saw. Since it was a movie adaption I expected it to differ from the novel at places but the deviations from page to screen were unbeliveable. Not only were things out of order but they left no time for explanation so you were basically confused half the time, chunks of the book which i loved (Vittoria getting kidnapped, Langdon and the Hassain duking it out) were completly erased not to mention the entire character of Max Kohler who was essentail to the story. The relationship between Vittoria and Robert was a partnership at best and one of the prefarati actually survived! That NEVER HAPPENED!

Acting was okay. I still dont really like Tom Hanks and I didn't see enough Ayelet Zurer to really make a judgement. Ewan McGregor made the difference without him I would have walked out. Well done sir. There is no one else to really talk about... The Hassain had like 10 lines and... yea thats about it.

I could go on and on about the mistakes of this movie but frankly there too numerous. Instead let me say I acutally prefer The Da Vinci Code to this. Where the Da Vinci code lacked in action at least it had plenty of history so you weren't sitting there confused the entire time. Also, The Da Vinci Code was pretty blatent as to what Dan Brown wrote. However contraversal it was. I felt like Angels and Demons was changed in order to make the church look good. In the book I got the sense that while the church thought what they were doing was good they were the bad ones.

And with that I end this review

I give angels and demons 4 out of 10.

Till next time.

Star Trek : Reloaded

SPOILER ALERT: if you are planning to see this movie and want to know if its good just read the first 2 paragraphs - Elaine

When my brother (who is a major trekkie ) told me about the new Star Trek movie in the works I wasn't completely sold. Me personally I loved TNG and Voyager but I was a bit young for William Shatners Kirk and Leonard Nimoys Spock. I was ready to pass but my brother was adament i watch the trailer. I love him for doing so. To my surprise the trailer looked fanominal... and not only that but it was being directed by J.J Abrams who produces LOST of which I am an avid fan.

So I prepared to watch this movie with high expectations and you know what? It lived up to them all. Amazing special effects brilliant acting just a glorious reboot to the franchise.

The acting was superb. Chris Pine's carefree Kirk was a neat contrast to Zachary Quintos logical Spock. It was also neat to see Leonard Nimoy back on the screen as Spock Prime. There has been a lot of gossip about the hotness of Chris Pine but to be honest i was totally jealous of Uhura when she had the kissing spree with Spock in the turbolift... annnyywayy moving on.

The plot was ...good. A little complicated but good. J.J Abrams threw us another one of his time conundrums for us to figure out but being a fan of LOST I could understand it but I would understand if others couldn't. My brother had the complaint that it was unrealistic at times espcially with Kirk just happening to land in the exact same region of the planet as Spock Prime but i think we can all look past that minor detail.

Eric Bana's character Nero is a Romulan miner whos planet was destroyed and he hates spock for not coming to the rescue. To me his character was hastily thrown together we hardly see him except for the beginning and end. He was really just the bonding incident for the finest crew to ever seek out new life. (did anyone else get the goosebumps when Leonard Nimoy said that at the end??) And also ... what happend to the classic Romulan look?

Eric Bana's look

Classic

Who really cares... Eric Bana looks hot anyway.

To all you hardcore trekkies out there. Relllaaxx.. this is a fresh take on Star Trek and will probably differ from what your used to. Be open minded and flow with it.

I give Star Trek a solid 9 out of 10 stars ;)

Untill next time.

Live long and prosper.
