2012

Warning may contain spoilers.

I don't believe in 2012. I think the hysteria is unbelievable. Just because the Mayans ran out of room on a rock does not mean we're all going to die. We said the same thing about 2000 and we're still here. So when this movie trailer came out my first thought was "Oh my god this is just going to make it worse." and for some people it did. I thought the movie was okay. I mean special effects were breathtaking but just on the whole it was too unbelievable.

The beginning was boring just so boring. A scientist finds out the crusts are going to start moving and that they need to start evacuating people but the government already knew and they were going to save the smartest and wealthiest people in the world. The plan is that they've built..... arks.... yea arks and they're just going to ride it out and wait for the water levels to recede.

The story revolves around this writer/limo driver Jackson Curtis and he family escaping to China to get on the arks. Jackson and his wife are no longer together and shes with this guy... to be honest i don't even remember his name but it doesn't matter because he dies anyway. He just a perv and he has no depth whatsoever his death was not sad at all. There's also this Russian family with the hot Russian chick but they don't matter either.

In the end this movie is just for effects if you go in expecting anything more your going to be disappointed.... the special effects are amazing but it doesn't make up for this films lousyness

Slumdog Millionaire

Warning there may be spoilers

Alright so its been quite some time since Slumdog Millionaire came out so you might be wondering "Why on earth havn't you seen this?!" Well to be honest i never planned too. I'd heard all the gossip and stuff about how this was the greatest movie you will ever see but i still didn't feel the need to see it. Well now i have and i'll say this. It's a good movie but i expected more from what everyones been saying. It didn't blow me away like most people.

Well anyway the only reason i saw the movie is because i read Q&A which if you don't know is what Slumdog is based off of. I was put loosely in that description. Maybe thats why it didn't blow me away because the book was just so spectacular thats what i wanted.... the book in movie form but i didn't which is to be expected.

One of my main problems with it is all the changes. Stuff that didn't need to be changed such as names. In the book the main character is Ram Mohamed Thomas but in the movie his name is Jamal Malik. Also his love intrest in the book is Nita not Latika. Anndd Salim is not Ram's brother... he's just a childhood friend. A lot of the stories were gone too Neelima Kumar, the Australians, the priest, the train, the hitman Salim worked for, the voodo one, Salim and Thomas's next door neighbors in the chawl. I'm happy Maman was in it because i liked that story. So either way i find one thing is not going to click with you wether it be the book or the movie.

But enough with the bad stuff.. This movie had many high spots. The way it was filmed is unique and pleasing. The actors (even the child ones) where amazing, absolutley brilliant. The scene which i enjoyed the most was the moment Jamal won and the theme is playing and it goes to Salim in the bathtub full of money just shooting a bunch of guys then he gets shot. I also liked when Latika was running for the phone. I started leaning forward a bit.

All in all a great movie definitley check it out. Try the book too it's fanominal.

This one gets a 4.5/5 from me

Till next time.

Just what meets the eye.

Warning: There may be spoilers.

So i saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and ... it was pretty good. Not great but good.

Well when the first Transformers came out i was skeptical but when everyone was telling me how amazing it was i caved and rented it on DVD. It was actually amazing. It was not the way i pictured a live action Transformers movie to be. It was a lot more believeable if that makes any sense. so when i saw the trailer for Revenge of the Fallen i was so pumped and the trailer itself looked awsome.

So i went to the theatre this time with a bunch of friends for a 2 and a half hour movie. The beginning was kinda annoying. Since im not a guy i dont find Megan Fox all over a motorcycle very interesting. The movie picked up the pace and by the end it was full tilt robot madness. Now you have to come expecting more action then storyline in a Michael Bay movie and he didn't dissapoint.

The plot basically goes like this. Sams off to college but Mikela has to get her dad off his ass before she goes anywhere so their having a long distance relationship. When Sams moving he finds a piece of the al spark in his sweater and when he looks at it it shoots like information into his eyes and he starts freaking out all over the place. Now the deceptions are back and they go to the bottom of that trench and bring megatron back. Their looking for this thing that harvests the suns energy to save their race but they dont know where it is only Sam knows. So now they have to stop them before they kill Sam and activate the machine.

Now as long as that is you kind of forget about it between all the fights. Don't get me wrong the fights look amazing but is that what movies are all about? Also Sam and Mikela do the whole "do you love me?" thing and it grinds on my nerves after a while ... do i care?

Also this movie is a little ridiculous between all the new autobots crammed in there who barley get enough screen time to the primes which is just wierd and that part at the end with Sam? If you've seen the movie you know what i mean ... like what?

Anyway after sitting in the theatres for two and a half hours i was satisfied. Now i cant say if everyone else will be. Some of my friends absolutley LOVED it while some of my other friends thought it was boring and wierd. Me im neutral. Yea there are some bits that we could have done without but... overall it was a great movie. Have to say tho my favourite bit was Sams mom and the hash brownies... oh my.

I'd say go see it. Its worth the money and time. I give this movie and 8 out of 10 (i still pefer the first one).

till next time.

Alice in Wonderland - Tim Burton Pictures

As I am sure many of you know Tim Burton has been working on a re-make of the classic Alice in Wonderland. Now I am a huge Disney fan but quite frankly Alice in Wonderland frightened me and I havn't watched it much. Which is probably why Tim Burton is interested.

Obviously his main man Johnny Depp is in this movie. He is going to play the Mad Hatter

Omg this scares me. To be honest I can't really see Johnny doing this but hey i never pictured him as Willy Wonka either. Guess i'm just more used to the serious Johnny but regardless he looks great..... he's still a sexy beast.

Next up is his squeeze Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen:

She looks FANTASTIC... omg this is not what the red queen looked like but this is how it should have been it is perfectly burtonized. I can't stop looking at her. I wonder how it'll look on screen :O ?

Next we have Anne Hathaway as the White Queen:

To be honest I don't remember the White Queen. Was she in the Disney move? ....Who cares. Anne looks mesmerizing and i'm sure she'll do great.

Next Mia Wasikowska as Alice:

I'm not familiar with Mia so I can't really say anything about that... but she looks the part.

I have faith that Tim Burton will make this into one of his usual masterpiece's and even tho Alice in Wonderland frightens me I will definitly be in the line-up for this one.

Till next time!

May angels guide you through this suckish movie..

Since Youtube hates me right now this is being posted ahead of schedule.

SPOILER ALERT: If you havn't seen this movie and still want to see it their will be spoilers.

When I heard that there was going to be a movie about the Dan Brown book Angels and Demons I flipped out. I love this book. Probably one of my favourite pieces of writing. Then I learned that Ron Howard was directing it. Oh boy... after his gigantic flop with Da Vinci Code I didn't have much hope. So I went to see this with little hope but praying I would be proved wrong. Unfortunatly I wasn't.

This movie was terrible. It is beyond me how you can take such an amazing piece of writing and end up with what I saw. Since it was a movie adaption I expected it to differ from the novel at places but the deviations from page to screen were unbeliveable. Not only were things out of order but they left no time for explanation so you were basically confused half the time, chunks of the book which i loved (Vittoria getting kidnapped, Langdon and the Hassain duking it out) were completly erased not to mention the entire character of Max Kohler who was essentail to the story. The relationship between Vittoria and Robert was a partnership at best and one of the prefarati actually survived! That NEVER HAPPENED!

Acting was okay. I still dont really like Tom Hanks and I didn't see enough Ayelet Zurer to really make a judgement. Ewan McGregor made the difference without him I would have walked out. Well done sir. There is no one else to really talk about... The Hassain had like 10 lines and... yea thats about it.

I could go on and on about the mistakes of this movie but frankly there too numerous. Instead let me say I acutally prefer The Da Vinci Code to this. Where the Da Vinci code lacked in action at least it had plenty of history so you weren't sitting there confused the entire time. Also, The Da Vinci Code was pretty blatent as to what Dan Brown wrote. However contraversal it was. I felt like Angels and Demons was changed in order to make the church look good. In the book I got the sense that while the church thought what they were doing was good they were the bad ones.

And with that I end this review

I give angels and demons 4 out of 10.

Till next time.

Star Trek : Reloaded

SPOILER ALERT: if you are planning to see this movie and want to know if its good just read the first 2 paragraphs - Elaine

When my brother (who is a major trekkie ) told me about the new Star Trek movie in the works I wasn't completely sold. Me personally I loved TNG and Voyager but I was a bit young for William Shatners Kirk and Leonard Nimoys Spock. I was ready to pass but my brother was adament i watch the trailer. I love him for doing so. To my surprise the trailer looked fanominal... and not only that but it was being directed by J.J Abrams who produces LOST of which I am an avid fan.

So I prepared to watch this movie with high expectations and you know what? It lived up to them all. Amazing special effects brilliant acting just a glorious reboot to the franchise.

The acting was superb. Chris Pine's carefree Kirk was a neat contrast to Zachary Quintos logical Spock. It was also neat to see Leonard Nimoy back on the screen as Spock Prime. There has been a lot of gossip about the hotness of Chris Pine but to be honest i was totally jealous of Uhura when she had the kissing spree with Spock in the turbolift... annnyywayy moving on.

The plot was ...good. A little complicated but good. J.J Abrams threw us another one of his time conundrums for us to figure out but being a fan of LOST I could understand it but I would understand if others couldn't. My brother had the complaint that it was unrealistic at times espcially with Kirk just happening to land in the exact same region of the planet as Spock Prime but i think we can all look past that minor detail.

Eric Bana's character Nero is a Romulan miner whos planet was destroyed and he hates spock for not coming to the rescue. To me his character was hastily thrown together we hardly see him except for the beginning and end. He was really just the bonding incident for the finest crew to ever seek out new life. (did anyone else get the goosebumps when Leonard Nimoy said that at the end??) And also ... what happend to the classic Romulan look?

Eric Bana's look

Classic

Who really cares... Eric Bana looks hot anyway.

To all you hardcore trekkies out there. Relllaaxx.. this is a fresh take on Star Trek and will probably differ from what your used to. Be open minded and flow with it.

I give Star Trek a solid 9 out of 10 stars ;)

Untill next time.

Live long and prosper.
